Trends and Turmoil in the Asset and Wealth Management Industry

    Elizabeth Nesvold, Managing Partner

    Silver Lane Advisors

Stocks may have risen off their lows but the market meltdown has markedly changed the investment management industry's landscape. It has wiped out or merged out of existence long-storied Wall Street names, it has accelerated the exodus of clients to independent RIAs, boutique managers, and open architecture platform providers, and it has likely ushered in era of much greater financial services regulation. Large-scale survivors of the meltdown are preparing to take advantage of the turmoil and their relative financial strength to continue consolidating the industry. Boutique managers and newly independent teams of broker/RIAs are also looking to profit from the upheaval. To help make sense of where this is all heading, Ms. Nesvold will offer a timely look at trends, challenges, and opportunities in the asset and wealth management industry.

Liz Nesvold is Managing Partner of Silver Lane Advisors, an M&A advisory firm specializing in the investment management industries, and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences. Liz has advised on 133 completed merger, acquisition, valuation and strategic advisory assignments for a variety of clients including trust companies, multi-family offices, institutional and alternative managers, investment counselors, financial planners, investment consultants, insurance companies and other financial services providers. Prior to Silver Lane, she was a managing director/partner at Cambridge International. Ms. Nesvold also spent 15 years at Berkshire Capital, co-founding the firm's wealth management practice in 1998 and leading the initiative until her departure.
